Queer Belonging Backpacking Adventure is a paid program from June 14th to June 30th. This program is for High School aged youth who identify as Queer, Trans, Black Indigenous and People of color. During the program, we will explore the themes of Queer belonging through community building, discussions, art, and outdoor adventures including backpacking, camping, and learning in nature. Participants will develop a deep sense of belonging within the affinity group and a connection to natural spaces. This program helps to create a safe space in which youth can connect on what it means to be QTBIPOC and learn how to advocate for more welcoming and inclusive spaces for all.

1. Career Connections -

Career exploration program designed for TAY (transitional age youth)

9-month long program (3-month training, 6-month internship, 2 extra months of case management).

Completing the 3-month training ($300) + paid hourly for the 6-month internship ($18.93/hour)

Requirements

    1. SF Resident

    2. Between age 15-25

    3. Must be legally eligible to work in the US

    5. Receiving behavioral health services

Peer counseling training and internship program for TAY (transitional age youth)

9.5-month long program (4-month program + 5.5 months from another Hire-Ability peer counseling internship program for hands-on experiences).

When a student enters kindergarten in San Francisco Unified School District, K2C automatically opens a deposit-only savings account in the child’s name at Citibank with a starter deposit of $50 in each account. Each year, the Maisin Scholar Award provides 75 high school seniors in SFUSD with as much as $3000 annually  so they can pursue higher education and open doors to their dreams. Awesome Fund Grant for Balboa High School Students Only

Balboa students are eligible to apply to this year’s Awesome Fund Grant. This link covers expectations and an overview of the grant. The Awesome Fund provides registered high school clubs with financial support for projects that help students enhance their community, keep students involved in school, and/or provide students with a more meaningful educational experience. Students can apply for a grant of $100 to $1,000.

If there is any interest in applying, students should start to consider what kind of project would positively impact their club the most and how much funding they’ll need to get it started.

BYA is a group of multicultural young people living or going to school in Bayview Hunters Point (District 10). BYA is committed to reducing violence and to creating harmony and understanding through outreach, education, and advocacy. Youth participate in weekly afterschool multicultural leadership workshops and volunteer in monthly community events. Through BYA, youth have the opportunity to share their voices in various spaces in the community and participate in decision-making processes that affect them and their families.

BYA will run from October 2023 - May 2024. Workshops are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm - 6:30pm.

Supporting Transitions & Aspirations Mentorship Program (STAMP) supports Asian and Pacific Islander (API) high school sophomores and juniors in their transition to college and careers by pairing them with an adult mentor for monthly 1:1 guidance and support. MNHC offers sensitive, respectful and non-judgmental services that are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL for all young people of all genders from ages 12 to 21. At the Shotwell site there is a Teen Clinic area made just for youth. Bilingual services offered cover physical, mental, emotional, sexual and reproductive health. If you are a young person over the age of 12, you can register for services on your own.
